- "A swarm of greenskins, eh? Let them come! It will take forty or fifty swarms to overwhelm these gates! My brother and my uncle died to return the Hold of Ekrund to Dwarf rule, and I am not about to sully their names by handing this place back over to Orc and Goblin ! No, a thousand times a thousand! I will slay hundreds who try to take this gate and its walls... and when my weapon breaks, I will kill them with my bare hands instead!"
- - Halkin Peakclimber, Oathbearer
Gates of Ekrund Overview
This Scenario has three objectives to capture on top of the Gates of Ekrund. Capturing these locations will make any kills grant more points towards winning the Scenario as well as grant points over time. The Center capture location is worth more than the two side locations. The ancient Gates of Ekrund guard the only mountain pass that is wide enough to accommodate an army. For the Dwarfs, recapturing these gates and sealing them shut is of vital importance in stemming the greenskins' tide of destruction. The Dwarfs have succeeded in repairing most of the damage to the gates, but the greenskins remain relentless in their attempts to break through, if only to annoy the Dwarfs. The greenskins have no siege weaponry capable of damaging the doors, so they are forced to try to take control of the gate mechanism, located atop the gates. To accomplish this, the greenskins have erected siege towers that they use to climb to the top of the walls.
Gates of Ekrund Strategy
Like most maps where your goal is to capture points and hold them, one point will usually be worth more than the others. You should focus on taking and holding that point (in this case, the Centerally located gate switch). You will also want to try and grab the Point nearest to your spawn to have something to fall back to if things go wrong. Holding the middle is your prmiary concern though, and a mad dash at the start will go a long way to helping secure your victory. Stay together, and try to regroup with others at the spawn point if you die. You dont serve anything running into a group of enemies and givng them a free kill.
